The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) Camp Innovate and Investigate is a pre-college summer immersion experience for high school students interested in the sciences. Participants engage in hands-on experiments and explore cutting-edge scientific topics at the intersection of math, physics, computer science, biology, and chemistry. The program emphasizes firsthand scientific experience, encouraging curiosity and passion through interactive lab sessions, collaborative projects, and dynamic workshops. Students will also explore design thinking to create innovative solutions to problems. The camp provides opportunities to hear from industry experts, tour state-of-the-art facilities, and preview groundbreaking research. Additionally, the program includes college prep workshops covering the application process, personal statement mastery, course selection guidance, and resume building. Students will work with faculty and peers on projects such as measuring and comparing temperatures in urban and tree-covered areas, discovering the impact of vegetation on urban heat, and participating in sustainability projects with a biopharmaceutical company, including facility tours and crafting toothpaste. A hydroponics workshop with Geogreens is also offered, where students learn about sustainable agriculture and growing microgreens.
The program runs from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. daily, with an extended day option (8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.) available for a nominal charge.
