Students gain an immersive introduction to a wide variety of engineering disciplines through hands-on projects and direct interaction with Rutgers faculty and cutting-edge facilities.
The Rutgers Engineering Summer Academy is a one-week residential program designed for high school students completing their sophomore and junior year (ages 16-18 by Summer 2026) to explore various engineering disciplines. Participants engage in hands-on, collaborative engineering projects, lab experiments, and technology demonstrations in cutting-edge facilities. Students learn directly from Rutgers faculty, researchers, and student mentors, gaining insights into real-world engineering applications and career paths. The program aims to build new skills, foster connections with peers and mentors, and provide an immersive experience of college life at a top-tier research university. Activities include academic workshops, facility tours, guest speakers, and group projects, culminating in a cardboard canoe race as an example of the engineering innovation process. Students earn a Rutgers Pre-College Digital Badge credential upon completion.
A typical day includes breakfast, academic workshops focusing on different engineering disciplines, lab experiments or technology demonstrations, lunch, and supervised cultural/recreational group activities in the evening.
This program is ideal for high school students who are deeply invested in STEM or just beginning to explore their academic interests in engineering.

New Jersey STEM Summer Camps is a free directory service that aggregates publicly available information about STEM programs, summer camps, and educational opportunities. We do not operate, sponsor, endorse, accredit, certify, or have any affiliation with the camps and programs listed here unless explicitly stated.
All program details — including pricing, session dates, instructor credentials, curriculum, safety policies, refund terms, transportation, meal arrangements, and admission requirements — are sourced from publicly available information and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Listings are partially generated and updated using automated AI-assisted research, which can occasionally produce inaccurate details. Parents and guardians are solely responsible for independently verifying every detail directly with the camp before enrolling, paying, or relying on any information shown here.
