About this camp

Liberty Science Center's Partners in Science is an intensive eight-week summer program designed for rising high school juniors and seniors with outstanding abilities or unrealized potential in STEM. Students are paired with mentors in science, health, and technical fields, immersing them in authentic scientific research at local universities and hospitals. The program goes beyond textbooks, exposing students to current questions driving scientific discovery in real laboratory settings. Participants gain competence in scientific inquiry and research, develop oral and written science communication skills, and build a network of advisors and professional connections. Students engage in ongoing research and independent projects, culminating in a symposium where they present their findings to staff, peers, mentors, teachers, and parents. This experience helps students strengthen college applications and explore STEM career paths.

What a typical day looks like

Students work five days a week, 35-40 hours/week, at their assigned research sites under the supervision of mentors and professional research staff, engaging in new research, assisting in ongoing projects, or verifying completed work.
